Infrastructure performance management software maker Virtual Instruments has added improvements to its Load DynamiX Enterprise storage performance validation package, which enables storage admins to validate and optimize their systems.
Load DynamiX Enterprise 5.3, released April 12, enables users to more intelligently deploy storage infrastructure for their hybrid data centers, the company said. It optimizes the storage performance testing and validation process, resulting in deployment decisions that can save substantial capital costs in storage and ensure the performance of business-critical applications.
Load DynamiX Enterprise 5.3 allows storage engineers and architects to perform "what-if" analyses and modeling for network-attached storage (NFSv3), using a customer's production storage workloads to greatly enhance realism.
VI also unveiled a new preconditioning methodology for flash array performance testing, providing advanced capabilities for analyzing the performance of high-end arrays.
Key new features include:
--Ability to build temporal NFSv3 workload models for hyper-realistic modeling and analysis
--A simplified, foolproof methodology for preconditioning all-flash arrays connected via Fibre Channel and iSCSI;
--Enhanced user productivity and GUI improvements, such as real-time test status notifications and more intuitive workflows; and
--Test management improvements to simplify administrative tasks such as results management, backup and restore, and other system management functions.
Virtual Instruments serves about 500 customers, including enterprise IT, cloud service providers and storage vendors. The privately held company is headquartered in San Jose, Calif.
