ATG, IBM Extend Partnership
Expanded partnership calls for Art Technology Group to integrate parts of IBM's WebSphere product line with its e-commerce software offerings.Art Technology Group and IBM announced an expanded partnership Monday that will call for ATG to integrate parts of IBMs WebSphere product line with its e-commerce software offerings. Under terms of the agreement, ATGs Commerce and Self-Service applications will be preintegrated with WebSphere Application Server (WAS), WebSphere Studio development tools and WebSphere MQ application integration software. ATGs relationships with other Web applications server software developers, such as BEA Systems Inc., are unaffected by the move. The Cambridge, Mass.-based company will continue to develop its own ATG Dynamo Application Server as well. The company will, however, offer what it terms an "attractive" license exchange program for Dynamo customers looking to move to the preintegrated WebSphere offering.
The partnership is expected to result in better performance of ATGs applications on WebSphere, faster and lower-cost deployment, and easier application development for ATG customers, ATG officials said. Purchasing and support will also be easier for customers, officials said.
