Borland will integrate BoldSoft's design-driven technology into its development tool line.

Borland Software Corp. on Monday announced the acquisition of BoldSoft MDE Aktiebolag, a design-driven software technology provider, in an all-cash deal. In the deal, Borland will get Stockholm-based BoldSoft along with its software development technology, which Borland will integrate into its line of development tool technologies. Borland, of Scotts Valley, Calif., would not disclose financial terms of the deal. Borland officials said the BoldSoft acquisition and its design-driven technology would advance Borlands position as a development environment for Microsoft Corp.s .Net platform.
BoldSofts Bold is a suite of tools for building Internet-based, mobile and enterprise applications. Bold helps developers map an organizations business model to a relational database and then to create applications based on the designs, the company said.
BoldSoft was founded in 1997 and has been a Borland partner since. BoldSofts technology has been integrated into Borland products. In addition, five members of Bolds development team will join Borlands Rapid Application Development Solutions group, which has an office in Stockholm.
