EDS announces the availability of Unigraphics NX2, the latest version of its integrated software that combines CAD, manufacturing and engineering analysis capabilities.

Electronic Data Systems Corp. announced last week the availability of Unigraphics NX2, the latest version of its integrated software that combines CAD, manufacturing and engineering analysis capabilities. NX2 combines software from EDS 2001 acquisitions of Structural Dynamic Resources Corp. and Unigraphics Solutions. With the addition of the two companies, EDS, of Plano, Texas, created its PLM Solutions division, dividing Structural Dynamic Resources and Unigraphics product lines into two main suites: Unigraphics and Teamcenter.
Unigraphics NX is the culmination of EDS vision to have a single product-authoring environment that brings together components from I-deas and Unigraphics into one offering.
NX2 includes advances in knowledge-driven product development and digital simulation that enable users to simplify and streamline product development by incorporating individual processes and best practices into product design and manufacturing, officials said. Unigraphics NX2 also includes some advances in product and assembly design, digital simulation, industrial design, automotive styling, complex milling and integrated machine tool simulation. At the same time, NX2 eases user interaction and navigation. Its structural and motion analysis tools are integrated with NX Knowledge Fusion, as well as I-deas NX Series data in Teamcenter. NX2 is available now. Discuss this in the eWeek forum.
