LiveVault to Support Exchange Servers
The application service provider will add support for Microsoft's Exchange servers early next year.LiveVault Corp., an application service provider for data backup, will add support for Microsoft Corp.s Exchange servers early next year. With the unnamed revision, the LiveVault service will recognize Exchange traffic specifically, instead of treating it as a generic data. Customers can then have speedier and higher integrity restores, said Dan Chartier, director of product development, in Marlborough, Mass. The service now will recognize Active Directory, Internet Information Service, the Exchange operating system version, and the server system state, to improve the integrity of the backed up data. Also, LiveVaults network operations center will validate all changes, compared to just select changes, as it does currently.
For easier administration, there are also user interface changes, and there is new documentation. The backup document that Microsoft provides is "over 200 pages long. Weve simplified that. We have about three pages," Chartier said.
