Sun to Debut 12-Way Unix Server

The mid-range server, which would come in four- to 12-way configurations, could debut at a Sun event on Feb. 10 in San Francisco. Among those scheduled to speak at the event is Scott McNealy, CEO of the Santa Clara, Calif., company. According to a Sun Web site in Belgium and Luxembourg, the v1280 will include a four-processor configuration that includes 8GB of memory and an eight-way configuration with 16GB of memory.
There also will be two 12-way systems, one with 24GB of memory and another with 96GB, according to the site.
