The Apple TV is now available. The question of whether consumers should buy the device now or wait and see what the competition will soon offer has been widely debated since Apple finally announced the product on Sept. 1.The answer is to buy it now. In testing, the Apple TV performs quite well. The streaming experience is outstanding; the hard drive isn't even missed; and most consumers should be able to work their way around the software without much trouble. But the device does have its flaws. For one, there isn't enough content available to consumers. It's only capable of streaming 720p video, rather than 1080p content. But at $99, the Apple TV is a fine choice for consumers on a budget. Plus, it has real potential that can't be overlooked. Simply put, the Apple TV, while still a hobby, is a worthwhile purchase.
