Cloud Computing: ConVirt Enterprise Cloud Eases Creation of Virtual Data Centers
ConVirt Enterprise Cloud from Convirture brings open-source virtualization together with hosted cloud services to transform enterprise infrastructure into private clouds and virtual data centers. The company's unified management paradigm speeds cross-platform deployments of virtual server pools and creates separate virtual data centers that can be managed from a single management console. ConVirt Enterprise Cloud also offers self-provisioning capabilities, allowing customers to manage their own independent private clouds. Ease of use and the ability to "separate" virtual data centers are key capabilities of the product, which allows IT departments (or hosts) to create virtual data centers that share virtual resources, yet still appear to be silos that are separated from each other, giving end users the feeling that their virtual data centers are unique entities with dedicated resources. What's more, end users have the ability to add virtual resources to their virtual data centers, as long as those resources have been provisioned within an infrastructure as a service (IaaS) framework defined by the ConVirt operator. ConVirt administrators also have the ability to self-brand the end-user portal, giving another level of separation for a virtual data center implementation.
