Cloud Computing: Google TV with Logitech Revue Box Boasts Netflix, YouTube Leanback Apps
Logitech launched its Revue companion box and keyboard controller for Google TV for $299 last week, offering users a way to drop a Web browser onto their TV sets to manage both their TV content and Web applications. Google TV marries Web surfing and channel surfing in a seamless fashion. Loaded with an Intel Atom chip, Google's Android operating system and Google's Chrome Web browser, the Revue box boasts several preloaded applications. These include YouTube Leanback, Amazon Video on Demand video rental service and a Netflix app, which eWEEK used quite a bit to stream content from the instant play queue on Netflix.com. We tested the device for a weekend on a Toshiba TV and with AT&T's U-Verse service and found it to be a very clean, seamless user experience overall. This eWEEK slide show walks prospective buyers through Google TV on the Revue just in time for the holiday gift-buying season.
