IBM's Sean Poulley, vice president of online collaboration at IBM, discusses LotusLive, IBM's latest push into SAAS (software as a service), with eWEEK senior writer Clint Boulton at Lotusphere 2009. Poulley says LotusLive will provide enterprises with a more integrated social networking and collaboration portfolio, where all the parts move together more seamlessly than they do in the Google Apps and Windows Live competing suites. One of the key differences is that LotusLive will integrate with IBM customers' current on-premise investments in Lotus Notes, Sametime, etc. Out of the chute, LotusLive this year will integrated with Salesforce.com, LinkedIn and Skype, exposing the platform to as many as 400 users. In particular, he sees the LotusLive integration with Skype as an instant rival with Google's voice and video chat feature in Gmail.
