Application Accelerator Update Adds RAID 1 To Intel Chipsets
An upgrade to Intel's Application Accelerator software provides support for RAID Level 1 mirrored arrays to its latest chipsets. An upgrade to Intels Application Accelerator software has added support for RAID 1 arrays to its latest chipsets. However, users will only be able to choose between RAID 0 and RAID 1 configurations. Version 3.5 of Intels Application Accelerator RAID Edition, available for download on Intels web site, "provides support for Serial ATA RAID 0 & RAID 1 on select Intel 865 and 875 chipset-based platforms," according to Intel. The included readme and release notes dont specifically indicate whether the RAID functionality is RAID 0 or RAID 1, or a combination of the two.
"Yes, we are adding RAID 1 functionality to our software stack," an Intel spokesman said in an email to ExtremeTech. "So you can either do RAID 0 or 1 if you own one of our 865 or 875 boards that support RAID via ICH5R."
