The 2x1 Electronic SCSI Crosspoint Switch provides a software-controlled way to connect multiple peripheral devices to a failover host device.

Instead of buying multiple failover devices or manually plugging in and unplugging cables between workstations and host devices, enterprises can now buy a new SCSI switch from Apcon Inc. with automated switching.

The 2x1 Electronic SCSI Crosspoint Switch provides a software-controlled way to connect multiple peripheral devices to a failover host device. Three SCSI buses can be chosen and connected through automated switching.

The Portland, Ore., company touts the switch as easy to use, highly available and cost-effective. Accompanying software enables system managers to remotely operate the SCSI port configuration and termination, report SCSI bus activity, and set internal temperature points for alarm notification.

The switch costs $995.
