Data Storage: Big Data Job Opportunities Abound in San Francisco, Boston, St. Louis
The rise of big data, the overall term given to the mining and analysis of all the data and information companies have at their disposal, is driving demand for data scientists and IT specialists who have the expertise in conducting high-level data analyses and applying those results to business projections and modeling. As organizations grapple with an ever-increasing amount of information gathered from customers from social media sites, email and other platforms, big data specialists are very likely to stake out a career in cities across North America. This list of the top five cities to find a big data job was compiled based on internal data from IT staffing and recruiting services provider Modis' branch network across the United States and Canada. Tech capital San Francisco topped the list, but some of the other entries proved surprising. To help figure out why these cities made the top five, eWEEK also looked into what industries in each city are driving big data employment opportunities.
