Notebook drives continue to be one of the most active parts of the storage market, analysts and vendors said. The supply of 2.5-inch hard drives will continue to fall short of demand in 2004, according to Pete Andreeyev, Hitachi Global Storage Technologies vice president and general manager for the Asia-Pacific region. Rising demand for notebooks following the introduction of Intels Centrino platform and the emergence of consumer digital products have driven up global demand for 2.5-inch drives. The worlds leading vendors including Hitachi GST and Seagate Technology LLC have already boosted production, Andreeyev said.
