Intransa is expected to incorporate Sonasoft's Sonasafe Point-Click Recovery suite of software tools with its own iSCSI Storage System offering.

Intransa, which makes SAN software and hardware, said May 22 that it is teaming up with a San Jose, Calif., neighbor—storage software toolmaker Sonasoft—to provide a new backup-and-recovery network storage package for Microsoft Exchange, SQL and Windows Servers. Intransa will incorporate Sonasofts Sonasafe Point-Click Recovery suite of software tools—which offer one-click backup and recovery capability through a graphical user interface—with its own iSCSI Storage System offering, Sonasoft spokesperson Joanne Llaznicka told eWEEK. By partnering with Sonasoft, Intransa now provides an integrated backup and recovery replication package that uses its own IP storage area network technology in tandem with Sonasofts own Web-based recovery software, Llaznicka said.
"[Microsoft] Exchange is a beast," said Vas Srinivasan, Sonasoft vice president of marketing.
"If you lose your e-mail, you cannot work. We handle the recovery capability; with just one click, you can recover all your data on Exchange, SQL, or Windows servers if it gets lost somehow." Prior to this partnership, Intransa did not have a recovery option to go with its storage hardware and software. Read more here about Intransas efforts in the IP SAN arena. The new package will enable customers to utilize one storage platform for both their primary and backup data, Intransa said. The new offering allows customers to take advantage of Intransas ability to provide different RAID policies within the same IP storage enclosure, the company said. The Intransa-Sonasoft package, available immediately, will be sold worldwide through an Intransa reseller agreement, the company said. Sonasoft automates disk-to-disk backup and recovery process for Microsoft Exchange, SQL and Windows Servers with its turnkey SonaSafe Point-Click Recovery software, which is designed to simplify and eliminate human error in the backup and recovery process, the company said.
