ScreamingMedia is launching a software platform for enterprise information integration that will enable businesses to capitalize on the disparate data sources by providing a central data store.

Information management software maker ScreamingMedia Inc. is launching its first enterprise information integration software next week. The new platform consists of three components that will enable businesses to capitalize on the disparate data sitting in their servers by providing a central location where data can reside.
Once data is normalized and filtered it can be delivered to targeted markets on a personalized basis, according to officials.
ScreamingMedias platform, yet to be named, enables users to retrieve and normalize information from third-party vendors and back-end applications, in addition to the companys repository of more than 3,000 sources. The three components that make up the platform include the Integration Server that pulls content from internal and external repositories and normalizes that data for integration into applications. The Financial Application Suite draws from internal and external content that resides in a financial institutions environment and then integrates that data into three interactive applications. Those apps include a portfolio app, a charting and analytical app, and a scrolling ticker, according to officials in New York. Finally, the Alerts Server finds and extracts actionable information from multiple sources and delivers it in the form of alerts to Web environments, intranets and extranets, and wireless applications. The Alerts Server also delivers real-time notification on information like stock price fluctuations, shipment and receipt of packages, airport delays, inventory alerts, and service and product upgrades. ScreamingMedia has undergone some changes of late. The company announced a new CEO, Kirk M. Loevner, earlier this month. Shortly after, it announced a new strategic alliance with enterprise content management company Documentum Inc. and launched a new product, Business Tracker. That product delivers customized and integrated intranet applications for research capabilities. Business Tracker is powered by a number of data sources, including Gale, a business unit of The Thomson Corp.
