Several vendors announce storage products with greater functionality and interoperability, including Kashya, Winchester Systems, Tandberg and iLumin.
  • Tandberg Data Boasts Smallest Rack-Mount-Configured LTO Tape Autoloader Tandberg Data ASA of Oslo, Norway, has announced a 1U (1.75-inch) form factor LTO (Linear Tape Open) tape autoloader with LTO2 capacity and a host of data-management features.
The StorageLoader tape automation solutions modular design offers two removable magazines that can hold up to eight data cartridges.
The $4,499 tape autoloader holds up to 3.2TB of storage (compressed), with a transfer rate of up to 173GB/hr when using the companys half-height LTO2 tape drive. The StorageLoader LTO2 also features Web-based remote management of maintenance and system monitoring and three FRU (field replaceable units). Get more information here.
  • Winchester Systems Introduces iSCSI-Based RAID Array with Fibre Channel Connectivity Winchester Systems Inc. of Burlington, Mass., has introduced the FlexSAN FS-100 disk array, an iSCSI-based RAID array with Fibre Channel Connectivity. Having both iSCSI and Fibre Channel connectivity allows users to implement a SAN (storage area network) and offer either SCSI or Fibre Channel connectivity more easily, said Dave Geene, Winchesters vice president of sales. The FlexSAN FS-100 disk array supports up to 6TB of SATA (Serial ATA) storage with four iSCSI and four Fibre Channel host connections. Get more information here.
  • Kashyas Data Replication Appliance Works with IBM SAN Solution The KBX5000 Data Replication Appliance from Kashya Inc. of San Jose, Calif., now works with IBMs TotalStorage SVC (SAN Volume Controller) on the Cisco Storage Services Module. Together with the Cisco SANTap service and IBMs TotalStorage SVC, the KBX5000 provides bidirectional data replication between SANs—something that can help organizations better weather data disasters, according to Kashya CEO Michael Lewin.
