Enterprise StorageEMC Drops Clariion Pricing EMC this week announced enhancements to its entry-level Clariion CX200 line of networked storage systems. When it was launched last November, the CX200 was available only in dual-controller configurations, and had a list price of roughly $30,000. This week, single-controller CX200 systems will also be available. "That allows us to get much more aggressive from a pricing perspective," EMC Senior Director of Clariion Mike Wytenus said. A $10,000 CX200 will hold about 100GB of storage, he said.

Multi-Layer DVD Holds 200 Films
Hitachi last week said it has developed technology to make DVDs with enough storage capacity to hold 400 hours of video. The latest technology involves stacking multiple data-storing layers. Conventional technologies so far allow only two layers in a DVD. The company aims to commercialize the technology in 2007.
