FileMaker Mobile

FileMakers database add-on, FileMaker Mobile, makes it easy to view and modify data on Palm OS-based devices and to keep that data synchronized with whats on the users desktop PC.

Although its handheld component lacks some of the functionality of Palm OS database products such as DDH Enterprises HanDBase, FileMaker Mobile nicely complements FileMaker and will be a good fit for users of that desktop database application.

SHORT-TERM BUSINESS IMPACT // FileMaker Mobile can immediately extend the reach of data at sites currently using the FileMaker database, quickly making Mac users as mobile in their desktop database dealings as are Windows PC users.

LONG-TERM BUSINESS IMPACT // Over time, FileMaker Mobiles limited feature set on the handheld side may be too restrictive for those who do a lot of database work on their Palm devices.

Tight integration with FileMaker database; works with both Windows and Macintosh computers.

Handheld component lacks some modification and beaming capabilities found in competing products; relatively clumsy desktop interface; only synchronizes handheld with a single-user database.
