Gateway welcomed summer with the introduction of three slim and attractive consumer PCs—a netbook and a notebook in two sizes. The Gateway LT23 Series netbook, a "must-have for every fashion-conscious mobile PC customer," according to Gateway, features a 10.1-inch display, a weight of just 2.76 pounds and a "chic fusion of classical design with a modern twist." (You be the judge.) With the new ID Series notebooks, available with 14- and 15.6-inch displays and measuring an inch thin, the focus shifts more to performance, as the battery-saving Nvidia Optimus graphics technology knows when to switch between on-board Nvidia and Intel graphics processors. Still, the ID Series notebooks include a feature that may also have aesthetically driven consumers taking note: an aqua-blue trackpad, like a swimming pool mirage in a landscape of brushed silver.
