The E-Series, Gateway Profile 4 and Sb-Series PCs, available now, come with Intels Pentium 4 chipwhich includes Hyper-Threading, a technology that enables a single chip to work as two virtual chips. Intel chip sets in the new desktops include an 800MHz front-side bus, which reduces the amount of time needed to pass data between the processor and memory, as well as dual-channel double-data-rate memory.
Gateway said Hyper-Threading will improve performance by 20 percent over desktops using Pentium 4 chips without the technology.
