Dell Computer announced two similar notebook PCs on Tuesday morning, one each in the Latitude and Inspiron brands.

Dell Computer announced two similar notebook PCs on Tuesday morning, one each in the Latitude and Inspiron brands. In an unrelated announcement, Dell officials confirmed the company will be reselling the Xplore iX104G Tablet PC from Xplore Technologies Corp. to the federal government. Dells Latitude X300 and the Inspiron 300m both contain Intels new low-voltage Pentium M processor running at 1.2GHz and Intels PRO/Wireless 2100 (802.11b) wireless card. Users can upgrade to other wireless options. Both notebooks default configurations are priced at $1,599.
The Latitude X300, designed for business customers, also includes a 20-Gbyte hard drive, 128 Mbytes of shared DDR system memory, a 24X CD-ROM drive, Windows XP Home and a three-year limited warranty.
Dells Inspiron 300m consumer notebook includes a slightly larger 30-Gbyte hard drive, 256 Mbytes of shared DDR system memory, a DVD/CD-RW combination drive, and Windows XP Home. Interestingly, Dells default configuration ships with the WordPerfect Productivity pack from Corel, the Dell Juke Box, Picture Studio and Security Center and a one-year limited warranty with mail-in service.
