Seamless Internet to Launch Panic-Free Ultramobile for Road Warriors

The company calls the S-XGen a "panic-free" mobile device for those on the go because of its 8-hour battery life.

Seamless Internets just-introduced S-XGen ultramobile portable computer promises to keep mobile workers connected throughout the workday. The UMPC, which the Carson City, N.Y., division of Seamless WiFi unveiled Jan. 8 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, will provide business professionals with a near full-size fold-out QWERTY keyboard as well as an 8-hour battery life.
"The units 8-hour battery life makes the S-XGen the first panic-free mobile device—one that seriously addresses the real needs of todays road warriors whether they are on a plane, held up in a taxi cab or out in the field," Al Reda, president and CEO of Seamless WiFi, said in a company release. The new UMPC will include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, triband cellular wireless technology, Ethernet connectivity, 256MB of RAM and a 20GB hard drive. The device is roughly 6.5 inches long by 3.8 inches wide, and it weighs 14 ounces; it also includes a 4-inch TFT 470-by-280-resolution monitor/touch screen that features a 280-pixel Web video camera and buttons for games, cameras and computing applications. "The S-XGen not only combines a variety of productivity-enhancing digital devices, but does so in a way that turns users into mobile powerhouses, not thumb suckers," Al Reda, president and CEO of Seamless WiFi, said in the same release. The UMPC, which is designed for the business professional, will also come with Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 and will support Microsoft Office Mobile Suite. The S-XGen from Seamless Internet will be available for $1,400. The date of release has not yet been determined.
