The Lenovo IdeaPad S10 netbook has a decent keyboard and some features that aren't standard for systems in this category, including a WWAN slot and a 15-pin monitor jack. The IdeaPad S10, with its bright, crisp display, could change the minds of people who think a netbook could never compete with a full-size notebook for everyday computing tasks. eWEEK Labs' testing of the IdeaPad S10 was performed by John Dodge.

  • The Lenovo IdeaPad S10's display was crisp and bright.
  • The IdeaPad S10 is 7.75 inches across and 7.25 inches deep. The unit is a hair under an inch thick.
  • Lenovo is known for its great keyboards, and while this is a good one given its cramped form factor, the HP Mini's is the best eWEEK Labs has tested thus far.
  • The IdeaPad S10's display is better than the HP Mini's and the Asus Eee PC's.
  • The right side of the IdeaPad S10 features an Express Card slot for WWAN (wireless WAN) connections, audio-out and audio-in ports, a USB port, and an RJ-45 jack for cabled Internet.
  • The mouse pad buttons are placed horizontally at the bottom of the mouse pad, the ideal location.
  • The left side of the IdeaPad S10 features a power connection, a 15-pin display port for attaching a full monitor, an SD memory card reader and a USB slot.
