British Scientists Creating Sensory-Perceptive RFID Tags
The tags are designed to work in harsh environments.British scientists are working on sensory-perceptive RFID tags that are specifically designed to work in harsh or secured environments. The Super RFID tag combines typical sensing with the ability to send out an alert when –for example – a refrigerated item should be kept at a certain temperature or if only certain people should have access. “A company working with food may need the combination of RFID with sensing and actuation to ensure the quality of food arriving on the shop floor, while for non-food goods, or items that need to be secured during the supply chain, RFID with locking and access control may prove to be the right choice,” said Steve Couchman, CEO of Instrumentel, the company developing the Super RFID tag.
