PeopleSoft has announced an upgrade of its EnterpriseOne applications suite that adds more than 250 enhancements, is optimized for demand-driven manufacturing companies and brings in functionality from other PeopleSoft suites.

EnterpriseOne is the former J.D. Edwards & Co.s ERP (enterprise resource planning) suite. PeopleSoft, of Pleasanton, Calif., acquired JDE in August 2003.
EnterpriseOne 8.11, which is due in December, adds modules for demand flow manufacturing, RFID (radio-frequency identification) processing, CRM (customer relationship management), and sales and operations planning. The upgrade brings in functionality from PeopleSofts Enterprise Suite, primarily in the form of CRM intellectual property, officials said.
PeopleSoft added technology from JCIT International Inc., an educational organization that teaches demand flow methodology geared toward helping manufacturers better respond to customers needs. With that, EnterpriseOne 8.11s Demand Flow Manufacturing module helps users quickly change production-line design, material replenishment and Kanban figures by formalizing approaches for designing production lines.

Building on its outbound RFID software for processing ship-to information, EnterpriseOnes new RFID Processor function takes care of meting out inbound RFID shipments, providing manufacturers with better visibility into inventory, officials said.
The EnterpriseOne CRM module adds key capabilities for manufacturers: lead and opportunity management, consensus-based forecasting, real-time order promising, and case and service management. It brings in functionality from PeopleSoft Enterprise primarily in the form of customer-facing processes that are integrated with back-office applications, which enables consistent customer information across a company.
Finally, the Sales and Operations Planning module offers a single repository for sales, manufacturing operations, engineering and finance data, which should help users better anticipate fluctuations in demand, as well as to simulate the impact of supply chain decisions, officials said. The suite has been optimized for manufacturers in the consumer packaged goods and life sciences industries, as well as for asset-intensive and project-oriented services industries.
