The companies on Monday announced an extension of their existing sales, marketing and development partnership that calls for the two companies to jointly sell and market document services to the enterprise.

IBM Corp. and Adobe Systems Inc. on Monday announced an extension of their existing sales, marketing and development partnership that calls for the two companies to jointly sell and market document services to the enterprise. The partnership brings together Adobe document services with IBM content and document management offerings to improve data capture, document generation and document delivery capabilities, officials of both companies said.
The deal calls for the two companies to further integrate Adobes technologies across IBMs software offerings, beginning with IBMs DB2 Content Manager and DB2 CommonStore for SAP, and moving to integration with IBMs WebSphere and Tivoli software brands, officials said.
The first phase of the agreement has been the integration of DB2 Content Manager with Adobe Form Server, Form Designer and Reader, allowing forms to be created, managed and processed within DB2 Content Manager environments, using Adobe Reader as the front-end user interface and Adobes Portable Document Format (PDF) as the interchange between the two. The joint solution is designed to give organizations and governments the ability to automate their existing paper-based processes, officials said. Most of the integrations will be delivered this quarter.
