Inforonics Inc., a jack of all trades in the IT services arena, earlier this week launched a new managed services business unit, along with services in applications support, technical support and hosting support. The Littleton, Mass., company, which bills itself as a total services provider, will extend its consulting and application development into the production environment with services that officials say leverage its application development expertise. As a part of its new application management services, Inforonics will provide application certification, application integration, software deployment for packaged applications and application maintenance support.
Its new technical support services encompass call center support delivered on either a 24-by-7 or 5-by-12 basis as well as production support and content management.
Its new hosting services focus on application maintenance, distribution, storage, monitoring and security on a 24-by-7 basis. A bit of serendipitous timing along with a lot of evaluation led a former client of Harrison and Troxell, which was acquired by Inforonics, into the new services offerings, according to Nick Peters, senior vice president of Newstream.com, a joint venture of Medialink Worldwide Inc. and Business Wire. "We found our needs had changed, the economy changed and, fortuitously, [Harrison and Troxell, a boutique Web integrator] were bought last summer, and suddenly we found ourselves in situation where we could look at our whole deal quite differently," he said. Thanks to new resources from Inforonics and its ability to spread costs across a larger client base, "they came back with a proposal that could save us money over the original deal. Our tech support bill came down drastically on a monthly basis. With application maintenance, they came back with a reduced rate for just maintaining the various configurations, updates, server support and so on because they could spread the costs out," he added. All three services offerings are available now.
