New Mexico Company to Develop Computerized, Drive-Through Supermarket

New Mexico-based AutoCart is planning a drive-through superstore where customers can shop for groceries and other services from their cars using a wireless, touch screen computer.

The store would consist of a 130,000 square foot warehouse with a kiosk similar to a bank drive-through where customers go to place orders for various products and services. Employees find the items, place them on a conveyor belt and the bagged groceries are available for the customer at the end of the drive-through. Customers would also be able to place orders online or by fax.

The company hopes to build a store in Albuquerque or Tucson by the end of the year.
