Sage Software continues its growth, reporting that 2006 was a record year across the board for the company.
Sage Software announced Nov. 29 that their total North American revenue for the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30 was $652.2 million, a 16 percent increase over the same period last year.
The company, the North American business of the Sage Group plc, also reported a 21 percent increase over the same period last year on its EBITA (earnings before interest, tax and amortization), as Sage Software totaled $160.4 million.
The UK-based Sage Group plc also reported an increase in revenue, totaling a global revenue of $1.69 billion for the year ended Sept. 30, which was a 22 period increase over the same prior year period.
The Sage Group plc totaled an EBITA of $449.8 million, a 23 percent increase over the prior year, while also adding 553,000 to its customer base, giving the company a total of 5.2 million businesses worldwide.
"We continue to expand our business with our customers needs in mind, extending our software and services portfolio through acquisition and internal development, and integrating products to provide complete suites of business applications," Ron Verni, Sage Software CEO, said in a company release.
During 2006, the company offered small and midsize businesses a variety of business management applications by launching new and upgraded products that were designed for industries such as construction, distribution, healthcare, manufacturing and real estate.
"This enables us to provide our customers with the power of choice in their software selection, and gives them the confidence of knowing that Sage Software can support them for the life of their business," Verni said.
Some examples of the companys upgraded SMB business software products include: ACT! By Sage 2007; Peachtree by Sage 2007; Quantum 2007; Timeslips by Sage 2007; and Simply Accounting by Sage 2007.
Sage Software also provided SMBs with new releases and upgrades in its management products and services portfolio to help companies outsource their payroll while also being able to maintain integration with their in-house accounting and human resources management system.

These new releases and upgrades include Sage Online Payroll Services integrated with Sage MAS 90 ERP (enterprise resource planning), Sage MAS 200 ERP, Sage Accpac ERP and Sage Abra HRMS (human resources management system).
The company was able to spread out its product portfolio in 2006 with numerous acquisitions such as:
Verus Financial Management, a merchant services provider.
The Master Builder product line from Intuit, and Contractor Anywhere, which develops products for the construction industry.
The Practices Services Division of Emdeon Corporation, a company that aids physician practices.
The Mobile Division of Corum Corporation, which offers software to allow mobile access to business applications.
Sage has also launched a new customer magazine, Business Minds, while also acquiring standard certifications for its technical support teams.
