Officials at the annual health technology conference Toward an Electronic Patient Record (TEPR) handed out awards Wednesday for health IT solutions in categories ranging from document imaging to mobile devices to, of course, electronic health records. A panel of independent judges selected the winners from a pool of 88 entrants. The judges pick for e-prescription management systems was Rcopia, a system by Rockville, Md.-based DrFirst Inc. that provides both handheld and Web-based prescribing systems capable of faxing prescriptions straight to the pharmacy. MedFusion Inc. was honored for its Virtual Office Suite in the category of communications and connectivity solutions. The software helps doctors attract new patients and facilitates electronic communication between physicians and patients.
NextGen Healthcare Information Systems Inc. scored three awards, with first place in the categories of practice management systems and EHR systems for small and solo practices, and second place in EHR systems for medium and large health-care practices.
SynaMed LLC earned third-place honors in e-prescription management systems, medical records document imaging/management, practice management systems, and EHR systems for small and solo practices. Other companies won in multiple categories as well. They include eClinicalWorks LLC, which captured first place in medical records document imaging/management and second place in practice management systems. AllScripts Healthcare Solutions TouchWorks Rx and TouchScript v10 and v7 won first place for EHR systems for large and medium practices and second place for e-prescription management.
Cerner Corp. came back with second place in medical records document imaging/management and first place in EHR systems for hospitals.
