Ciscos Catalyst 2950T-24, a stackable fixed-configuration 10/100M-bps switch, has two integrated 1000T Gigabit-over-copper ports for uplinks to Gigabit aggregation switches. Except for the Gigabit interfaces, the 2950T-24 is a run-of-the-mill, very able workgroup switch.

SHORT-TERM BUSINESS IMPACT // This switch should make it a snap to get 10/100M-bps Ethernet networks hooked up to Gigabit over installed copper wires.

LONG-TERM BUSINESS IMPACT // Even organizations that go to a Gigabit backbone are going to need switches such as the Catalyst 2950T-24 for some time to come.

Easily managed with Web-based tool.

Fixed-configuration ports limit integration with Fibre Channel-based networks.
