Micromuse to Acquire RiverSoft
The $64 million deal will give Micromuse access to RiverSoft's flagship NMOS network intelligence engine.
Network and applications monitoring vendor Micromuse Ltd. today said it will buy network analysis software maker RiverSoft Technologies Ltd.. in an all-cash deal valued at $64 million. The deal will give Micromuse, maker of the Netcool suite of assurance tools, access to RiverSofts flagship NMOS network intelligence engine, officials said. Greg Brown, Micromuses chairman and CEO said more and more, users are looking for both root cause analysis tools and overall performance monitoring capabilities from a single source.By acquiring RiverSoft, Micromuse officials said the Netcool suite will grow to include comprehensive inventory management as the NMOS network intelligence engine expands Netcools Layer 2 and Layer 3 IP network discovery technology into ATM/frame relay and MPLS. Netcool will also gain a new visual tool joining network performance with business services status. The combination of NMOS and Netcool will also offer faster and more accurate identification and resolution of problems, enabled by an automated delivery of root-cause information, officials said.
