Cylink Corp. says it can help. The Santa Clara, Calif., company late last month rolled out NetHawk Version 3.0, a VPN (virtual private network) that officials said brings VPN capabilities to desktop and notebook computers. NetHawks client software enables Windows operating systems to secure communications over TCP/IP networks, giving remote computer users the same security through a dial-in remote access device that desktop users get through a LAN or a WAN.
It does so by using the Triple-Data Encryption Standard and IP Security, which support more than 20,000 simultaneous connections.
