WLAN Revenues Jump in Q3, Dell'Oro Says
Driven by demand in the health care and education sectors, revenues in the wireless LAN market grew to more than $1 billion in the third quarter, according to Dell'Oro Group. Demand for 802.11n products also played a factor in the revenue increase. Cisco, HP and Enterasys were the key beneficiaries of the growth, with quarterly revenues increasing more than 30 percent each.Revenue in the worldwide wireless LAN market jumped to more than $1 billion in the third quarter, with the health care and education sectors driving the growth, according to market research firm Dell'Oro Group. There also was growth in sales of 802.11n products, Dell'Oro Group said Dec. 14.
The third quarter saw the supply constraints from the previous quarter disappear and revenues grow to levels not seen since before the global recession, according to Dell'Oro analyst Loren Shalinsky.
