IPv6 is the next-generation Internet Protocol addressing standard, and it’s going to supplement, and eventually replace the IPv4 protocol that most Internet services use to get requests of any kind handled by the Internet today. IPv6 uses 128-bit addresses, which provide for over 340 trillion IP addresses. There are many benefits of migrating to IPV6, but a few security concerns you should take into account. According to Gartner, although IPv6's security capabilities as a protocol are comparable to those of IPv4, the new version’s security has not been field proven, and testing has shown issues with certain IPv6 implementations that weren’t a problem with IPv4. Join Ziff Davis Enterprise Market Expert Michael Steinhart as he discusses both the pros and cons of migrating to IPV6, what it will cost and what security concerns you should be aware of.
