The new generation of employees entering the workforce is super social, and according to Horan, also blurs the line between what's appropriate in the workplace with what is acceptable in their personal social lives. Horan believes is it important for companies to employ social tools, but she also believes responsibility lies with the company's CIO to ensure the proper social business guidelines are in place. She says these proper guidelines will lead to the effective use of social media within the enterprise. Horan also discusses internal challenges she has overcome at IBM and how she handles change management once deployment of these social tools has taken place.
