Updates from Hyperion and SRC enhance interoperability.
Hyperion Solutions Corp. and SRC Software Inc. aim to give enterprises a better handle on operations with updates to their respective business performance management software.
Hyperion, of Sunnyvale, Calif., last week rolled out Version 3 of its BPM (Business Performance Management) Suite, which includes Planning, Financial Management, Performance Scorecard and Business Modeling applications.
The upgrade features tighter interoperability across applications, including a common user interface and single sign-on, plus support for data exchange across all applications. There are also capabilities to extend the technology to more users with support for the entire management cycle, including goal setting, scenario modeling, monitoring and reporting results.
Version 3, due in July, also provides enhanced support for meeting the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and other regulatory requirements. The BPM Suite is built on the Essbase XTD platform, which was upgraded with support for hybrid analysis of data from relational and multidimensional data stores.
Hyperion BPM user John Monczewski cited new features in Version 3 as benefits, including the flexibility to make custom changes without programming assistance, an intuitive development environment that required little intervention from Hyperion and improved data integration. Monczewski, manager, balanced scorecard at Booz Allen Hamilton Inc., in McLean, Va., also welcomed the collaboration and interoperability upgrades. "We have been able to share information across various professional communities," he said. "Well be able to link [Hyperion Planning] with Business Modeling. However, today we are able to use Hyperion Essbase and Analyzer to provide additional reporting capabilities."
Separately, SRC, of Portland, Ore., also last week made available Advisor Series FI, a budgeting, financial planning and reporting product designed for banks, thrifts, credit unions and other financial institutions. The product combines three applicationsBudget Advisor; Payroll Planner; and Information Advisor for consolidations, financial reporting and ad hoc analysiswith a new application, Cash Flow Analyzer, which lets banks forecast future cash flows by warehousing and analyzing loan and deposit records.
