NYSE Wants to Open Earlier

To capture trading action from Europe, the NYSE is considering bumping its opening bell a half-hour earlier, to 7:30AM.

New York Stock Exchange Chief John Thain expects that expanding the trading hours would divert some business from London and other European capitals, which open six hours or more ahead of Wall Street. After revealing the plan at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Thain said the NYSE should decide on earlier hours within the year.
