.Census 2.0"> TS.Census 2.0

Tally Systems upgraded TS.Census enterprise-class hardware and software inventory tool has enough muscle to easily handle the tough questions posed by CFOs, including: "What do we have? And what do we need?" Data collected by the system is well-documented, so IT managers can get reports on even the most esoteric details. This is more true for Windows systems than for Linux- and Unix-based systems, which TS.Census can track with this release.

SHORT-TERM BUSINESS IMPACT // Installing TS.Census means making a small investment in additional equipment to run the product, allocating a significant amount of staff time for several weeks to run a pilot project and devoting staff at least part time to keep the software identification files up-to-date.

LONG-TERM BUSINESS IMPACT // Once in place, little maintenance is necessary to keep TS.Census working properly. IT managers will get accurate hardware and software inventory reports that should help control expenditures for both.

PROS // Windows, Unix and Linux support; accurate inventory.

CONS // Custom application recognition needs beefing up in Unix/Linux agent.
