Gateway Arms Servers With 3.06GHz Xeon
Servers are targeted at the small and midsized business space.Gateway Inc. on Monday is rolling out upgraded servers armed with Intel Corp.s new 3.06GHz Xeon processors and targeted at the small and midsized business space. The 960 and 980 server lines will now feature the chip that includes Intels hyperthreading technology and a 533MHz front-side bus, according to Gateway, of Poway, Calif.
Intel, of Santa Clara, Calif., on Monday released the 3.06GHz Xeon for dual-processor workstations and servers. The chip maker also released a 3GHz version of the Xeon chip that features a 400MHz front-side bus. The new chips come with 512KB of Level 2 cache.
