Over the past decade, blade systems have grown to become key technologies in data centers where space, power and cooling costs have become a key concern for administrators. They're smaller than traditional servers; use less power, cooling and rack space; and offer easier management. However, their effectiveness can be diminished if IT professionals don't pay enough attention to how they're deployed and managed, or to how the people running them are trained, according to Ashley Hanna, business development manager at Hewlett-Packard and a co-author of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) Version 3 Glossary.
