Systinets updated Web Applications and Services Platform is the best Web services deployment platform weve seen to date. Its precise and easily administered security controls are a generation ahead of other offerings. However, its tools integrate only with Java IDEs, so its primarily attractive to Java developers.

The WASP Web services tool kit is compellingly priced. Development tools are free, and the server is also free when deployed on single-CPU systems. For multi-CPU systems, the package costs a very reasonable $2,000 per CPU.

(+) Market-leading security controls for both Web service access and administrative tasks; tight IDE integration with leading Java tools; Java and C++ versions; low cost; works on its own or with Java Web application servers.

(-) Doesnt integrate with Microsoft tools or .Net languages; no cross-server performance monitoring tools; lacks simple test framework; only HTTP-based access control methods supported by administration tools.

  • Web service capabilities found in major Java application servers
  • Microsofts ASP .Net
  • www.systinet.com
