This ominous-looking wrought-iron gate protects the data center castle, which spans several thousand square feet. Google notoriously protects its data centers to prevent rivals such as Microsoft and Yahoo from gaining competitive advantage, but servers are servers—whether they're stacked in a rack or suspended from the ceiling.
