IT Management: 6 Critical IT Hiring Trends to Watch in 2010

In May, Dice polled 600 hiring and recruiting managers on hiring trends that are critical to the IT marketplace for the remainder of 2010. The report found a lot of positive trends. For instance, 71 percent of companies plan to add technology staff in the next six months. "The hiring outlook is solid for technology professionals and that should provide confidence to review career options and to take advantage of a gradually improving market," Tom Silver of Dice wrote in the report. "With the unemployment rate for technology professionals at 5.5 percent, it doesn't take much job-market improvement before talent shortages are revealed." The hiring picture is brighter, but so are concerns on retaining talented employees and the ability to quickly fill that talent if people change jobs.
