Atesto Suite Integrates Web Monitoring Tools

In the race to integrate separate Web performance testing and application monitoring tools, little known Atesto Technologies Inc. hopes to take the lead with a new release of its Atesto Performance Suite. The Fremont, Calif., company next week will introduce Version 3.0 of the suite, claiming better integration than that achieved by Mercury Interactive Corp. or other competitors in the load testing and performance management space. Atesto Performance Suite 3.0 Enterprise Edition combines the companys LoadModeler Enterprise Edition performance testing tool, ResponseWatch Enterprise Edition response time monitoring tool and ResourceWatch Enterprise Edition server and network performance monitoring tool. All three tools were developed from a common code base, compared with products acquired with other vendors and then integrated—as in the case of Mercury Interactive.
"Version 3.0 brings them all together into an integrated platform with single access to an enterprise portal," said Ronnie Ray, marketing vice president at Atesto. Users, or testing team members at different locations, can access the software in a single location, he added. All three tools in the integrated platform use the same scripting language, so that scripts can be created for one tool and "seamlessly transferred to any of the other tools," he added. At the same time, the platform incorporates an analysis engine that correlates data gathered through all three of the tools to help determine the cause of performance problems across networks, servers and applications. APS 3.0 comprises a Test Controller that incorporates a central database, a reporting facility, an analysis engine and administrative functions. The Windows NT-based controller uses Microsoft SQL and IIS. The suite also includes performance agents deployed remotely across a network that gather performance data and generate tests. The agents run on Linux, Sun Solaris, Windows NT and Windows 2000. The software is available now and starts at $50,000.
