If the economic pinch has left your IT department feeling a little used, you're not alone. In fact, the interest in pre-owned IT equipment has never been higher, according to resale industry expert Mike Sheldon, CEO of used networking equipment specialist Network Hardware Resale. The reason is simple: Savings can be enormous - up to 90% off list price for equipment that has already been in service for one to two years. However, before you consider buying from the secondary market, you need to consider all the trade-offs, from giving up the latest generation of technical innovation, to foregoing factory warranties and maintenance plans.
