The addition of Evant's software is expected to fill out Manhattan's supply chain offerings.
Supply chain execution software developer Manhattan Associates announced Thursday its intent to acquire Evant for about $50 million in cash.
Evant Inc., based in San Francisco, develops supply chain planning, execution and replenishment software.
Manhattan Associates Inc., based in Atlanta, Ga., develops a suite of software called Integrated Logistics Solutions that includes modules for distributed order management, warehouse management, transportation management and trading partner management.
Most recently, the company added RFID (radio frequency identification) enablement software and middleware to its portfolio.
The addition of Evants software will fill out Manhattans supply chain offerings, adding functionality that helps a company forecast demand for supplies, and plan the execution and delivery of goods.
It will also add about 60 customers in three verticals: retail, manufacturing and wholesale distribution.
Manhattan currently has a presence in a number of verticals, including consumer goods, food, government, high tech and electronics, industrial and wholesale, logistics and retail.
The deal, subject to regulatory approvals, is expected to close around the end of September.
