New IT-Specific PM Training

Multiple project management outfits are coming out with targeted training and certification programs that they claim better prepare project managers to work on IT projects than do generic project management approaches. At the very least, theyre faster to get than the Project Management Institutes notoriously grueling PMP (Project Management Professional) certification. Heres whats new:

Center for Project Management	Project Management Core Capabilities curriculum designed to prepare IT professionals for the new IT Project+ certification from CompTIA	Certification candidates need only 12 months of PM experience
Project Management Institute	Certified Associate in Project Management certification	New cert requires about half the experience than does the PMP
	IT Systems CAQ and IT Networking CAQ (Certificate of Added Qualification)	New CAQs will add domain expertise to PM knowledge
