Peter Coffees July 24 column is exceptional [Epicenters, “Is Honesty the Best Policy?”]. He has succinctly described the leadership and management conundrum. [This conundrum can be seen] especially when you are asked to do something by your leadership. You do it, and then you are criticized for displaying a lack of mature thinking in that you should have known the leadership did not intend for you to actually do what you were told to do.
Government leadership spends money to collect certain data and additional funds to conduct critical analysis. When the facts are presented to leadership, they are too terrified to disclose it.
